Chandan has worked with some reputed company. Now he is working as a freelance Website designer and running a web designing company in Kolkata, India. 1. Please brief us about your professional background including the importance of Web Design/Development in your current profile.
2. Which course did you participate? How did it help you acquire new skills related to Web Design/Development? How has any course contributed to your career growth?
Chandan Chakraborty: I am self-taught Freelance Web designer and Developer learn myself from internet Udemy Lynda and another blog such as Smashingmagazine, Sitepoint and PSD Tutsplus which is now tutsplus.com. It helps me a lot I learn and build websites for my practice. The course will not much contribute to me major contribution my work experience and online forum site like StackOverflow etc help me a lot.
3. Why did you choose Freelance Web Design/Development work?
Chandan Chakraborty: The simple answer I loved it freedom and my own boss I want to help people to build their online business to make their website and make people life easy also working with the different client for the different industry I will get a lot of business idea.
4. Why do you think it’s important to learn Digital Marketing today? How Does It help in freelance career?
Chandan Chakraborty: So many companies sell today and since you’ll also need to sell your web design service for your
client so you need to learn Digital Marketing so you can understand how you can sell your service to your client. Its help your freelance career to attract a lot of customers.
5. Share about the benefits you can foresee about building a career in freelance website industry.
Chandan Chakraborty: The main benefit is freedom, you are your own boss, Money and build my business
6. How do you stay updated on the latest trends in web development? Which are the internet resources (i.e. blogs/websites/apps) you visit regularly?
Chandan Chakraborty: I visit daily google, youtube, Smashingmagazine, Sitepoint, and https://tutsplus.com. It helps me stay updated with my web industry.
7. Which are your favorite 3 digital media channels (e.g. Twitter, Google etc) and why?
Chandan Chakraborty: YouTube Google Facebook. Youtube is a largest video sharing website on the internet, Google is number one website for Search and Facebook is great for social media network.
8. Which are your favorite 3 Freelance platforms (e.g. Upwork, Guru etc) and why?
Chandan Chakraborty: Upwork because here you get a good client.
9. Which are your 3 favorite Web Design/Development Tools?
Chandan Chakraborty: Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, and Chrome Developer Tools.

Chandan Chakraborty: Bill Erickson, Dan Mall, and Jacob Cass.
11. What is your advice to newbies who want to build a career in Web Design/Development?
Chandan Chakraborty: I say first you need to learn design, color theory typography photoshop, and html5 css3 JavaScript and if you need to learn development you need to learn PHP/Ruby/Python any one them after that you can
specialize which one you enjoy most.
12. What are the challenges a person is likely to face when she/he enters into a freelance website Design / Development industry? How can she/he overcome those?
Chandan Chakraborty: Most challenging part to how he/she can get client also build a team when he gets a lot of work also project management and angry client you need to have a lot of patience and grow yourself step by step.
13. For someone who’s looking at full time or part time job or an internship in Website Design / Development, what approach would you advise?
Chandan Chakraborty: I say learn photoshop HTML CSS JavaScript bootstrap and build 4 – 5 website and solid portfolio to show their employer in this way you can enter on this industry.
14. Digital media especially Social media channels such as Facebook can eat up a lot of your productive time if not used wisely. Do you agree? What all can one do to efficiently leverage these channels for personal growth? Please share why personal branding is important?
Chandan Chakraborty: No, I do not agree. It up to you how you can use that platform. Personal branding is important when you can share your knowledge with your social media platform everybody can know you its help you recognize to you in this industry.
15. If you were given a chance to rebuild your career, what changes you would have made to have even better growth and fulfillment?
Chandan Chakraborty: I will start first to build the skill develop my solid portfolio and learn marketing and specialize in one discipline to become expert and publish content to become an authority in my industry.
16. How do you see freelance website Design/Development evolving in future?
Chandan Chakraborty: I see there are a lot of scope in future to every small business looking Freelancer to work on the project or monthly basis for them. They do not need to hire a full-time employee to pay a lot of money and health insurance etc to save their money and outsource there task so I think its most demanding profession in coming future Freelancing.
